You NEED to Know This About the Kylie Lip Kit

The Kylie Lip Kit is still going strong. Since it’s release, each restock sells out of liquid lipsticks within minutes to patiently waiting consumers all over the world.

In typical Kardashian style, there has been plenty of controversy surrounding the popular lip kits.

Recently there has been a reformulation of the product, which is said to be of poorer quality than the initial batch. Beauty blogger and YouTuber Stephanie Nicole did some serious research into the ingredients of the new formulation, and discovered that they are practically identical to a much cheaper product by the brand ColourPop.

That’s not all… ColourPop and Kylie Cosmetics are both owned by the same parent company Seed Beauty. Seed Beauty use Si2 Product Development (SPATZ Integrated Innovation System) “to bring new cosmetic brands to the market as quickly as possible”. On their website they explain that with the Si2 Product Development, “the focus is on SPEED, not perfection”.

In a review of the Kylie Lip Kit, Stephanie explains that with this system, basically “you throw sh*t against the wall and see what sticks, and then when it’s broken, you’ll worry about fixing it later”.

Stephanie shared a photo of the ingredients in the Kylie Lip Kit, compared with what she believes is its identical twin, ColourPop Cosmetics Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks, and the results are pretty shocking…

Kylie’s Lip Kit in Candy K and ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Clueless are basically the same. There are a few extra ingredients in the ColourPop formula, however these are purely fillers.

The main issue here is the dramatic price difference between the two products. A Kylie Lip Kit is around AU$40 with shipping costs at AU$21. A ColourPop Cosmetics Ultra Matte Lipstick is AU$8.40 and a matching lip liner will only set you back AU$7, with shipping rates determined by the final weight of yourorder. For me in Sydney, this came to AU$18.40 to ship one Ultra Matte Lipstick and one Lip Pencil.

So that’s AU$61 for a Kylie Lip Kit VS AU$33.80 for pretty much the same product by ColourPop.

My Kylie Lip Kit in Dolce K arrived recently and although I really wanted to hate it, I have to admit the product is good. It’s light, long lasting and doesn’t dry your lips out as much as I suspected. The colour is also very on point.

Since discovering the ColourPop vs. Kylie Cosmetics scandal, Ultra Matte Lipsticks and Lip Pencils have been ordered and there will be a follow up comparing the products to Ms. Jenner’s a.s.a.p.
