28 Nov We’ve Found 4 Finishing Powders To Get You Through Summer
For a long-time I skipped a finishing powder in fear of losing the dewiness and glow I’d just spent an hour trying to create. However, my skin has changed over the past couple of years and I’m inconveniently ‘combination’ meaning while I may not need to de-shine in the mornings, I certainly need it by 3pm if I don’t take precautions.
That’s why I went on the hunt for the best finishing powders that I could dust on in the morning to avoid having to touch up all day long without taking away my illuminated finish. Here’s what I found…
Charlotte Tilbury Genius Magic Powder – Charlotte got it pretty right when she named this product. Available in three colours, the fine powder is great for blurring your skin and leaving it looking smooth and healthy. It doesn’t settle into your lines making them look more pronounced and it won’t leave you looking dry or powdery. Instead, it seamlessly blends with your foundation to mattify your look while still leaving you looking radiant. There’s no glittery-ness to the formula and it’s talc free. A nice and big fluffy brush is best with this one to lightly dust the powder over your t-zone after foundation.

By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder – This dual use powder is like nothing I’ve seen before. There are not many products that can be used separately as both a part of your skincare and makeup routine. The soft, fine powder melts quickly into your skin to provide a huge dose of hydration. When used over makeup, it locks in your look to prevent shine and blur imperfections and fine lines. You can also use it over your skincare at night to further hydrate and repair your skin as it’s made with pure hyaluronic acid. It goes on beautifully and doesn’t leave any powdery feeling behind.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Loose powders can be tricky to control if you’re out of practice which is only one of many reasons that make Hourglass’ ambient lighting finishing powders so great. The other reasons? The shade range allows you to tailor the finish to your skin tone and add dimension. The finish is glowy and illuminating without any sparkle and the fine particles of the powder settles into your makeup to give a flawless, seam-free finish.

Too Faced Born This Way Setting Powder – The Too Faced setting powder gets rave reviews for its finely milled formula and rightly so. The powder comes in three shades including a translucent but I’d say all three are perfect for gals with yellow undertones in their skin. It will really brighten and illuminate your makeup while taking away shine and locking in your look all night long. You can use it to either bake your makeup or just dust it over to control oil but either way, you won’t see any chalkiness or flashback from this silky powder.
