19 Jun Well Done Lip Enhancement with Dr Steven Liew at Shape Clinic
Lip enhancement has become a popular trend over the past few years, especially amongst younger women. While pouty and pillowy lips are on many wish lists, lip enhancement isn’t just about creating bigger lips, but can instead be used as part of an anti-aging program to rejuvenate the lower section of your face.
Of course, we see a lot of bad examples of lip enhancements where the lip created doesn’t fit the proportions of a person’s face. Unfortunately, the duck lip has given lip fillers a bit of a bad rep and realistically, you only notice someone has had lip fillers if it hasn’t been done thoughtfully. Don’t let these bad examples scare you away!
The best examples of lip enhancements are so subtle you’ll notice something’s different, but you won’t quite be able to put your finger on what it is.
Dr Steven Liew is a renowned Plastic Surgeon and the Founder and Medical Director of Shape Clinic in Sydney’s Darlinghurst. His credentials are extensive and worth a whole article on their own but it’s safe to say he is an expert in cosmetic enhancement.
We chatted to Dr Liew about natural looking lip enhancement and got to experience his master work first-hand. You can see the treatment in the video below and hear him talk through the process.
Some of the biggest takeaways are…
- Filler isn’t necessarily about adding volume but more so about supporting the structure of your face as it changes with age. That’s why he actually injects around the area of the mouth when creating natural looking lips, instead of just in the lips themselves.
- A little bit goes a long way and when it comes to creating natural results with fillers, you should think about doing subtle enhancements more frequently, rather than waiting until you need more dramatic treatments.
- Proportion is everything and a great injector will look at your face and create lips that fit your face shape and proportions. Following the latest trend won’t work for every person.
