The Face Masks That Help Clear Your Skin

For most, masking is a way of life. Often there’s nothing better than sitting back with a face mask on at the end of a long week. No matter what your concern, be it dryness, congestion, dull skin or uneven texture, there’s a mask available to treat all concerns. And these potent formulas often make you feel like you’ll wake up with completely renewed skin the next day.

Yes, I’m a fan of the face mask. Gels, creams, muds, sheets, you name it and there’s a good chance I’ve done it in the past few weeks.

But with so many on the market, it can be easy to get over-whelmed and buy them all in the hopes of finding that one that will transform your complexion. If you’re looking for something that’s going to treat stubborn blackheads, resistant pimples and general congestion in your pores, then look no further.

Mud masks are designed to absorb impurities in your skin to leave your pores clearer. Much wanted side effects also include a glowing complexion and a refined texture. Different masks will use different ingredients, but the general idea is pretty similar. A natural mud ingredient is added so it can absorb excess oil from deep within the skin. It’s a combination of the oil being attracted to porous ingredients that work like a sponge as well as drying ingredients that will shrink your pores after the oil, dead skin cells and dirt has been sucked out.

The good ones have an impact after the first use so can be great if you’ve got a big event coming up or have just had a breakout.

Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask

This mask has been a holy-grail product for my congested skin and I urge anyone struggling with blackheads, pimples or excess oil to give it a go. Like the name suggests, it’s filled with Irish Moor Mud (which isn’t as gross as it sounds), that helps to draw dirt and impurities out of your skin. It’s full of anitoxidants and can help to reduce the look of large pores, fine lines and wrinkles. The best part it, it still works to re-hydrate and nourish your skin so you don’t end up with any dryness.

GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment

For a heavy hitting, scientifically backed mask, GlamGlow’s Supermud is your go-to. It’s packed with technologically advanced ingredients that are unique to the brand and it works deep down in your pores to extract gunk. It’s a strong formula so should be used sparingly and with a nourishing moisturiser but after just a couple of uses, you’ll find your skin clearer, smoother and brighter.

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

The Body Shop’s mask is a great dupe for the GlamGlow Supermud for gals who are looking to tighten their purse strings a little. It has a similar gritty texture that helps to buff your skin with gentle exfoliation as you apply and remove it and it creates a tingling sensation on the skin as the ingredients penetrate your pores and dry up the nasty stuff that’s clogging them. It’s 100% vegetarian and will have your pores feeling more refined and unclogged in no time.
