04 Jun The Body Moisturisers You Need to Survive Winter
We spend a lot of time talking about and testing 100s of products for our faces but until a few weeks ago, I’d been using the same moisturiser for my body for more than 18 months without even considering its effectiveness.
It’s easy to continue to pick up the same conditioning body lotion every time it’s on sale only to agonise over five different moisturisers for your face. Coming into Winter though, body care is just as important as slapping some expensive serums and creams onto your face and while you may have your tried and true favourite, not all body products were created equal. Here’s some of our favourites…
It’s a bit of a splurge but Aesop’s Intensive Body Balm is a luxurious and highly nourishing cream that can turn even the saddest dry legs and elbows to smooth and bouncy skin. It’s intensely hydrating infused with macadamia nut and sandalwood oils and the citrus, vanilla and woody smell is heavenly. It’s absorbed into your skin quickly to leave you feeling fresh and comfortable, no oily residue in sight.
There was a point in my youth where body butter was the product to own. In fact, I had four from the Body Shop, in four different flavours, of course. I used to flick between mango and strawberry as favourite but now couldn’t recommend the shea butter more. It’s a nutty butter that’s super thick but melts into your skin to deeply nourish even the roughest, driest skin. It’s best suited to evening use as it does take a second to soak in.
I go through these cans like a bottle of water but the incredibly affordable price makes it completely guilt-free. The spray makes it easy for even the laziest amongst us to hydrate your limbs and the formula is lightweight so it soaks in almost instantly allowing you to get dressed and going in no-time. But don’t be fooled by the lightweight finish, it’s still very nourishing and will turn dry and cracked skin smooth in no time.
The internet is obsessed with this all-purpose cream and rightly so. It contains just six natural ingredients; olive oil, beeswax, bee propolis, bee pollen, royal jelly and honey. It can be used to treat a host of skin conditions and concerns including acne, burns, scars, wrinkles, eczema as well as dehydrated and under nourished skin and comes highly recommended by naturopaths and dermatologists the world over. At such an affordable price, it’s definitely worth a try to get your Winter skin concerns under control.
Often our hands need to be paid extra attention during Winter as they’re more exposed to weather and constantly being put to work. That’s why you should always carry a lotion specifically for the hands. This one by the Grown Alchemist is particularly concentrated but doesn’t leave your hands greasy so there’s no down-time after application. The smell is also very luxurious and a nice way to take a break in the middle of the work day to prevent cracked fingers and damage to the delicate skin on the back of your hand.
