Keep Your Makeup Fresh with These Face Mists

They’re not often thought of as powerhouse products but if there’s one thing I’ve come to be unable to live without over Winter, it’s a face mist.

Whether it’s designed to be a part of your skincare routine, set your makeup into place or give your face a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, your beauty bag needs a face mist. I currently keep one in my handbag, one at my work desk and one on my vanity, all with different key ingredients but all equally as reliable at keeping my skin hydrated and healthy when Winter wants to dry me out.

Here’s a few of our favourites…

Ultraceuticals Ultra Balancing Skin Mist – This all in one skin conditioner and toner is designed to clarify, hydrate and soothe your skin. It’s concise balance of ingredients makes it perfect for both dry or oily skin types and green tea and Provitamin C antioxidants help to protect your skin from environmental aggressors like the sun and pollution. You can use it as a toner after cleansing or over your makeup if you need a bump of hydration throughout the day. It doesn’t cause your makeup to slide and it’s a reliable way to prevent creases.

Colorescience Hydrating Mist – If you’re a mineral makeup lover than Colorescience should definitely be on your radar. Their hydrating mist is the perfect addition to any makeup look as it helps to set your look while offering a super hydrated and vibrant finish. It’s really refreshing and lightweight so you can spray it all day long without it building up on your skin and going sticky. And trust me, once you smell it, you certainly will be spraying it all day long.

Kat Von D Lock-It Makeup Setting Mist – As far as setting sprays go, this one is pretty well-known for being a powerhouse. But would you really expect anything else from the Kat Von D brand? A few quick spritzes after you finish your makeup ensures that nothing, not sweat, your natural oils or even rain will cause you a makeup mishap. It’s not as hydrating as other options and dries fairly matte but if you need your makeup to stay in place all-day-long, you need this mist.

Models Own Makeup Fixing Spray – For those balling on a budget, this is the spray for you. It holds makeup in place throughout the day really well but I’d recommend a touch up after work if you’re hitting the town. The best part about this one though is that it’s super hydrating and doesn’t go shiny or sticky as your naturals oils come through like other setting sprays have a tendency to do.

Skinstitut Multi Active Mist – What this spray lacks in its ability to hold your makeup, it makes up for it with its hydrating and brightening properties. Loaded with vitamin B3, ginseng, green tea and licorice root, it creates a dewy and smooth base for your makeup and works to even skin tone, sooth irritation and neutralise free radicals to prevent things like pollution and radiation from your phone screen damaging your skin. It’s lightweight also so it’s great for applying over your makeup for a touch up.
