19 Aug Go-to Products For An Affordable AM beauty routine.
The perfect day time skin routine for me requires 3 non-negotiable factors- sun protection, hydration, and prepping my skin for make-up.
Choosing which products to use, and when to use them can be confusing so I thought I’d list what a perfect day time skin care regimen looks like for me.
I also thought I’d throw in my favourite pharmacy beauty buys, because who doesn’t love a product that makes your skin feel great and is also super affordable?!
I always start my AM skin regimen with cleansed skin. If you love a morning shower then a gentle cleanser is a great way to kick start your morning skin care routine. Don’t use a cleanser that strips the skin, opt for something gentle that helps to maintain some level of hydration. You don’t want to strip away too much moisture and risk feeling dry during the day. Dryness can make your make-up look cakey.
A Serum or Gel
I like to use a serum/gel as the first step in my daily routine. This helps keep my skin feeling refreshed and toned.
My preference: I use QV Face Rescue Gel daily. It’s a lightweight, moisturising gel that is suitable for use with sensitive skin. It soothes dry and tight skin, and helps the skin maintain hydration. It also helps to leave the skin feeling cool and refreshed.
Moisturiser & Sunscreen
These days you really don’t need to use a separate sunscreen and moisturiser. There are so many products which give you both sun protection and daily hydration. I opt for a dual product that I find sits well under my make-up. Some dual products can be notorious for leaving you feeling greasy or shiny, and no one wants that!
My preference: I’ve been talking about this product a lot lately (also from QV) QV Face Moisturising Day Cream SPF 30 is a fantastic daily moisturiser. I love this one for a few reasons, firstly it wears really well under make-up, and secondly the price point is amazing. If you’re spending big on other products in your routine, you can choose this more affordable day cream and still get great quality.
QV Face Moisturising Day Cream SPF 30: Always read the label. Follow the directions for use. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and wear protective clothing, hats and eyewear to further reduce risk. Frequent re-application is required.
I am actually addicted to lip balm and I’m fussy about which lip balms I use. I need a hydrating lip balm and it’s also handy to use a lip balm with a sunscreen in it.
Try QV Face Lip Balm SPF 30. You can buy for under $5, I find it hydrating and it helps to protect lips from the sun!
QV Face Lip Balm SPF 30+: Always read the label. Follow the directions for use. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and wear protective clothing, hats and eyewear to further reduce risk. Frequent re-application is required.
Now that we’ve all become so used to taking hand sanitiser with us everywhere we go, there’s nothing better than hydrating your parched hands with a nurturing hand cream. Although personally I can’t stand a hand cream that leaves my fingers feeling greasy, I need something that hydrates well but is also absorbed easily.
Once a week (if I have the time) I like to start my morning with a mask, which type I use depends on how my skin is feeling.
I find myself opting for a purifying mask more often than not, something to cleanse away excess oil and dirt (or make-up) and leave my skin feeling fresh.
My preference: QV Face Purifying Mask is a fantastic choice because it not only cleans the skin, but adds moisture as it contains safflower seed oil, that helps to leave the skin feeling smooth and soft to touch. It’s suitable for use with dry and sensitive skin and its fragrance free.
