02 May Five New Foundations You Probably Haven’t Tried Yet
It’s the staple in nearly every girls’ beauty routine they just can’t live without. If we were to compile a list of the things we’d all take to a desert island, I have no doubt foundation would be sitting somewhere near the top.
Not only does it wake up tired complexions, hide imperfections and create a perfect base for the rest of our look, a new breed of high-performing formulas are offering added benefits like SPF, oil-control and the ability to add glow like none other.
There’s hundreds, even thousands, of different foundations on the market and brands are continually improving and expanding their ranges so it can be hard to keep track of all that’s new and wonderful. To help you out, here’s five new foundations you probably haven’t tried yet.
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter – Though it’s not strictly a foundation, if you’re looking for light coverage with maximum glow, Charlotte Tilbury’s new Hollywood Flawless Filter is the perfect top-up to your look. This hybrid product can be used as a primer, highlighter, on top of your foundation or as a foundation on its own. Admittedly, it took me a few goes to really take advantage of this product but once I worked out how to perfectly pair it with foundation, I’ve used it every day since. My recommendations, dot it along your cheek and brow bones for a little extra boost of highlight or if you want an all-out glow, apply a light liquid foundation then swipe the Flawless Filter across your entire under eye and upper cheek area, forehead, down your nose, on your brow and cheek bones and lightly tap it in with your fingers or a beauty blender. If you’re glow obsessed, you need this.
Shiseido Synchro Skin White Cushion Compact – When you need something that’s super dewy, super light and super fresh that still covers dark spots, evens your skin tone and brightens your complexion, this is for you. The new foundation from Tokyo brand, Shiseido, comes in a cushion compact and delivers seriously glowing benefits. I was shocked at first just how dewy my skin still was by the end of the day but have come to learn it’s just what this foundation does. Best part is, it’s SPF 40 so you can feel good about reapplying all day long.
Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup – This new formula from Elizabeth Arden is an innovative blend of tone and texture perfecting technologies. Its texture sits somewhere between a cream and pressed powder meaning it glides onto your skin smoothly and gives you the diffused and buffed finish that powder foundations do without any cakey-ness. It comes in an easy compact so it’s great for taking on the run and it has an incredible wear length. I tend to start the day dry and get oily by the afternoon but this foundation kept my oiliness at bay without exacerbating my dryness. Win!
I’ll preach the powers of La Roche-Posay for as long as the internet will let me. The French pharmacy brand is specifically developed for sensitive skin so it’s ultra-gentle while still being high performing. The formula of their newest foundation is thick and creamy but glides on like a dream. It’s one of the first high-coverage foundations I’ve tried that hasn’t caked on my skin. Instead, it melts in nicely to maintain a fairly natural look while completely covering freckles, dark circles, acne and uneven skin tone. It contains no parabens, fragrance or alcohol, is 100% allergy tested and is non-comedogenic. Plus, it’s SPF 25 so it’s a win, win really.
For those who love the classic Double Wear varieties from Estée Lauder, meet their lightweight little sister. The newest formula to be added to the range of cult foundations really is super light, high fluidity and sits very comfortably on your skin. All. Day. Long. It gives you a natural finish, that I wouldn’t call dewy but it certainly isn’t matte either. It perfectly evens out your skin tone and seriously doesn’t budge all day long. It’s also SPF 25 and helps to protect against environmental aggressors such as pollution.
