Five Eyeliners That Won’t Budge

Eyeliner is amongst the first beauty products to be used. It dates all the way back to Ancient Egyptian times when Pharaohs used it to create the dramatic winged eyes that inspired one of the biggest trends women still wear. Originally used to disguise wrinkles caused by the harsh weather of the Egyptian dessert, it fell out of fashion until the 1920’s when the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb brought it into the main stream.

Luckily, eyeliner has come a long way since it’s early days when smudging, running and subsequent panda eyes were all just part of wearing it. Nowadays, you should expect nothing less than 24-hour staying power, creamy formulas that glide on easily and precise applicators that offer total control.

Here’s some that live up to those expectations…

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner Eyeliner

It may not be quite as permanent as it’s name suggests but it’s pretty damn close. 10 years after being released for the first time and this award-winning eyeliner is still an industry favourite. It’s highly pigmented for 24-hour wear and doesn’t dry too quickly so you can easily correct any errors as you apply it, something that’s really important with a water-proof liner.

Makeup For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil

This pencil liner is super creamy and just as easily creates a sharp and precise line as it does a blended and blurred look. It’s one of the most pigmented pencil liners I’ve tried and it lasts all day without looking overly dry or matte the way other pencils can. It also comes in a huge variety of colours that are all as pigmented as the classic black option.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Bold Defining 24 Hour Liquid Eyeliner

It’s always nice to go for a liner that isn’t black but for those not yet brave enough to go bright blue, this bronzy colour is a great start. The formula is a little wet and highly pigmented making it really easy to apply neatly and you get a really light shimmer from the colour. Its precise applicator allows for full control when you’re using it so you can create a really thin line along your lash line or build up the product for a dramatic look or wing.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil

Need an eyeliner that stands up to oily lids and active waterlines? Urban Decay’s pencil liner is one of the internet’s favourite choices for both. There’s 20 shades to choose from ranging from an intensely pigmented black to multiple shades of browns, greys, purples and even an aqua allowing you to choose the tone that suits your unique eye and skin colour. The formula, infused with jojoba that helps to nourish your lash line, is creamy and malleable and blends well without turning into a smudgy mess.

Lancôme Grandiôse Eyeliner

High-tech meets high-performance. The innovative wand of this liquid liner bends to give you easy access to your lids to create a precise line. Whilst you can’t use this liner to create a blurred look, it’s super fine tip allows for even the thinnest line and once it’s dried down, nothing but an oil based eye makeup remover will make it budge. It’s great for creating a winged eye or getting tight into the corners of your eyes.
