06 Dec Everything Your Hair Needs to Fight Frizz This Summer
For many, Summer is a word used to describe days spent by the beach or pool, an updated wardrobe or adventure filled weekends under the sun. For me, Summer means dry, fluffy and frizzy hair. As much as I get excited for the endless opportunities that longer days and warm nights bring, my hair wages war with humidity bringing stress and inconvenience in my pursuit of soft, shiny and bouncy locks.
Although fighting humidity is still a big part of my Winter hair routine, things really get ramped up in Summer so that the first signs of the sea or sweat don’t instantly turn my curls into a fluffy mess.
Here’s what I’m using to fight the frizz…
Ouai Anti-Frizz Sheets – Don’t be fooled by the trendy packaging, there is absolutely nothing gimmicky about these sheets. Perfect for throwing in your bag and using on-the-go, just a few downward swipes across your roots and through your ends tames frizz and takes away static for a smoother finish. The best thing about these sheets is that you’re not leaving any product behind so don’t need to worry about your hair being weighed down.
Body Shop Wild Argan Oil The Radiant For Body & Hair – Argan oil is really nourishing for your hair so this oil is more than just a quick fix. Instead you’ll see the long-term benefits of rehydrating and conditioning your hair with the Moroccan oil and the more nourished your hair is, the less it’s going to frizz up in high humidity. I love to smooth it through the ends of my hair after styling to tame flyaways and lock in moisture and shine. It also smells really nice!
Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray – This must-have from Oribe is my go-to all year round. If I’m styling texture into my hair, this spray is perfect for fighting humidity without losing your tousled, beachy look. Its super-fine formula is more of a mist than a spray which makes it easy to disperse it evenly through your ends after styling. Whether you have a sleek blow out or textured waves the spray prevents frizz without being detectable in your hair.
Phyto PhytoKeratine Ultra Repairing Mask – It’s natural that dry and damaged ends are going to fluff up and become more obvious in humid weather so a big part of fighting humidity is to ensure your locks are well nourished and hydrated. My go-to for an intense at-home treatment is this mask from Phyto Paris. It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid and leaves you with a freshly cut feel. Using it once a week over Summer is an effortless way to ensuring your ends are in prime position to resist humidity.
GHD Platinum+ Hair Straightener – I’ve used a GHD hair straightener for more than six years now but it wasn’t until I used the Platinum Styler that I realised just how important the right tools are in creating and holding your look and protecting your hair long-term. Not all straighteners are created equal and since using the Platinum I’ve noticed a lot less frizz and my hair holds styles a lot longer – even in humid weather!
