11 Jun Beauty Favourites with Alana Lowes
Alana Lowes’ bubbly personality and her passion for cooking, travel, fashion and writing have paved the way for her hugely diverse and successful career. A well known TV personality after her 2011 third place on Master Chef Australia Alana was a standout for her personlaity, good looks and charm. Currently the host of Network Ten’s travel, food and cooking show ‘A Taste of Travel’ Alana seems down to earth and despite her busy schedule she always looks fabulous! I absolutely loved hearing about Alana’s beauty secrets, and I love her little tip about Avocado and Olive Oil!
How would you describe your daily skin care routine?
Very simple routine of cleanse and moisturise morning and night. I have very sensitive skin so I use a Cetaphil Cleanser and Moisturiser. I always moisturise my entire body, not just my face. I also love to use ASAP Super Serum Vitamin C to help with anti-aging.
Do you have any beauty secrets or rituals you swear by?
I always, always, always remove my makeup at the end of the day! I never go to bed with make-up on and I swear by eating avocado and olive oil for soft supple skin!
What do you see as the most important aspect of looking after your skin?
Sunscreen is an absolute must! Under my makeup I wear Cetaphil 30+ moisturiser. Keeping skin moisturised is also super important and if I feel my skin is in need of some serious rehydration I take a warm bath with a couple of tablespoons of MOR Peony Flower Bath Oil. My skin always feels so soft and silky afterwards and my house smells like it is filled with gorgeous peonies.
Do you have any products you simply couldn’t live without?
My Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Pen, I actually call it my “magic pen” as it gives such a radiant look and smooths out any little lines or blemishes.
What was your last make-up purchase?
Lancôme Micro Aerated Pressed Powder . It gives a lovely silky velvety finish to my make up.
How would you describe your ‘everyday’ make-up style?
At a minimum I always head out with concealer, powder and mascara and lashings of gloss on my lips. When I’m working from home I just keep a clean, fresh face.
Do you have any beauty tips for staying fresh faced and fabulous while travelling ?
For long haul flights I pack a little “on flight” pack which consists of Avéne hand cream and mist, makeup/body wipes, Blink Eye Drops, Fess Nasal Spray, deodorant, a change of comfy clothes (leggings, t-shirt, undies) and drinks – lots of water, that way I always arrive feeling super fresh.
