I have to admit I love finding really good skin care products in my local super market or pharmacy. There’s just something so satisfying about proving (if only to myself) that good skin doesn’t have to cost a fortune. I also advocate that affordable skin care products can still be a part of a luxurious daily skin care ritual.
Over the years I’ve found plenty of great supermarket and drug store products but one brand in particular has been a staple in our bathroom cupboard for many years.
I first got hooked on QV products when I was looking for a gentle non irritating body wash for myself and for my son to use, we’re both prone to very dry skin and the occasional bout of dermatitis. The QV Gentle Wash is soap free and was the first one I found that didn’t make our skin feel stripped, it actually leaves your dry skin feeling hydrated and soothed. Several years on and I only use soap free products, we still only use the QV gentle wash in the shower for the whole family.
QV also have some fantastic skin care products for the face which I LOVE. I just find the whole brand so reliable and good quality. The products are all gentle and don’t disrupt the skin’s natural barrier. And if you like supporting local it’s great to know QV is also an Australian brand that was founded here in 1953.
So let’s talk about my favourite skin care items that cost under $20!!!
- QV Face Gentle Cleanser $12.49
This one is a creamy cleanser which moisturises the skin at the same time as it cleanses. Its soap free (of course), fragrance free, and its super gentle. It works well to cleanse away make-up and daily grime. My hot tip is if you’re wearing stubborn waterproof or long-wear make-up, massage the cleanser onto dry skin before you rinse it off. The cleanser will melt the makeup away easily!
2. QV Face Rescue Gel $18.99
Ok, this one is a gentle hydrating face gel that works well alone or under make-up.
It’s a great option if your skin is dry and sensitive. This lightweight moisturising gel soothes dry skin and at the same time it helps hydrate and support the skin’s natural barrier. It also helps reduce the discomfort from dry, sensitive and tired skin. It feels amazing on my dry skin when I put it on – it instantly leaves it feeling refreshed.
3. QV Face Night Cream $14.99
I love a rich and hydrating night cream to apply before bed! The QV Face Night Cream contains a vitamin B3 complex and Safflower oil for extra hydration whilst you sleep. It’s rich in texture yet easily absorbed, fragrance free and great if your skin has been feeling a little dry.
4. QV Face Moisturising Day Cream $12.39
I like to be sun aware even during Winter, so this face moisturiser with sunscreen is perfect for me to apply each morning and it sits really well under my make-up too. With an SPF 30, it helps protects my skin from the sun’s UV rays all the while adding a daily dose of hydration.
Always read the label. Follow the directions for use. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and wear protective clothing, hats and eyewear to further reduce risk. Frequent re-application is required.
5. QV Lip Balm SPF 30 $4.99
Last but not least, and probably currently the most used of my QV products is this beautiful lip balm. It gives my lips much needed hydration, it conditions my dry lips and it helps protect them from the sun. I’m a bit of a lip balm addict, so I’ve been taking this with me everywhere and topping my lips up throughout the day. It’s a fantastic price and means you can definitely stock up on a few to keep in each handbag.
