19 Jul Winter Body Care Shortcuts

Winter is a struggle for many reasons, but the biggest in my opinion is the dreaded moment when you peel off layer after layer to get into the shower. As somebody who truly despises winter I may be biased, but anytime I’m de-robing it needs to be as efficient as possible.

Enter: My favorite body care shortcuts.

Winter or not, who doesn’t love a shortcut?

These products are essential for me to get out of the shower and back into my Ugg boots ASAP. Want to know how to moisturise without leaving the shower? Keep reading.

Moisturise Without Leaving the Shower

Turning off a hot, steamy shower to stand on cold tiles and apply moisturiser is quite frankly, inhumane. Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner ($32.95) is my secret weapon for avoiding this torture. Similar to a hair conditioner, you shower as normal, apply all over your body, and then rinse off and pat dry. It’s filled with nourishing brazil nut oil, shea butter, almond oil, argan oil and vitamin E. The formula locks in moisture leaving your skin smooth and lightly scented with a rose fragrance. It’s divine.

Shaving Made Simple

After IPL hair removal, shaving is the easiest way to be hair free. My favorite razor is the Gillette Venus and Olay Razor ($15.49). Razors with an attached moisture bar are nothing new, however I still find that I prefer to use a shaving cream to get a really smooth finish. This razor has completely changed that. The deeply moisturising Olay moisture bar releases enough lather and hydration that there’s no need for the addition of shaving cream to get a close shave with no dryness. A word of warning: this product sells out fast so you may have to hunt for it.

Exfoliate and Moisturise With One Product

Winter can be tough on skin, leaving it dehydrated and dull. If your skin is noticeably flaky or coarse, you might need the help of a chemical exfoliant. Ultraceuticals Retexturising Body Complex ($89) is a body lotion that contains lactic acid, niacinamide and moisturising biomimetic ingredients to provide deep exfoliation and moisture in one simple step. If you can brave the cold for a minute or two and apply this body lotion, the results will be worth it.

Fast Fake Tan Removal

If you’re an avid fake tanner, you know that when the layers build up it can be difficult to scrub it all off. It can often take more than a few showers to get back to square one. The quickest way to remove your fake tan is with an exfoliating glove that is designed to remove fake tan. The Eco Tan Extreme Exfoliant Glove ($19.50) is the most effective at removing old layers of tan build up. I like to use it with a body scrub in the shower. For tans that won’t budge, try using it on your skin dry before you get in the shower, then again with a body wash once your skin is wet.
