03 Dec The Botox Boom- The rapidly growing popularity of non surgical cosmetic procedures.

It’s no secret that non surgical cosmetic treatments like Botox and fillers are a booming industry and yet so many women still treat these procedures as taboo. Many women refuse to talk about it or prefer to keep it a secret, the irony being that  almost of all of you will know one if not several women who are regularly having these treatments done yet do not admit to it. So why the secrecy? Undoubtedly the main reason is negative judgement from others. While non surgical cosmetic treatments remain a controversial topic to some, no one can deny the rapidly growing popularity of this highly effective  method of maintaining youthful looking skin.

Dr Steven Liew from Shape Clinic says, “There is no doubt that the demand for BOTOX and Juvéderm® fillers has increased year on year since it became available in the Australian and the global market over 10 years ago. In my personal experience, over the last five years I have seen a 20% increase year on year in patients requesting Botox and the request for Juvéderm®  fillers has increased by ~ 30% per year in the last 4 years.”

“Cosmetic medicine has moved beyond simply trying to smooth wrinkles and make patients look younger, focusing more on the finer aesthetics. Dermal fillers are non-surgical treatment options that are used to give a more youthful appearance by restoring facial volume or fullness. Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® and Juvéderm® VOLIFT® are now available in Australia and are a welcome addition to current treatments that rejuvenate the face and restore volume.” Says Dr Liew.

Over time people are becoming more familiar with these products, for example BOTOX… You’d be hard pressed to find someone who hasn’t heard of it. And with this familiarity comes a sense of security, women are now more trusting than ever of these products and their doctors capabilities to administer them. The products that are on the market today are of exceptional quality and of the highest standards. Juvéderm®  for example is a popular dermal filler used to restore volume and treat fine lines and wrinkles on the face.  Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® and Juvéderm® VOLIFT® are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar found within tissues of living cells, including the skin, which helps keep the skin hydrated by attracting and holding water and means that because this substance is found naturally within the skin there is minimal chance of negative reactions or rejection by the body. Today doctors can carry out these procedures with precision and finesse resulting in natural looking results that women love.
