08 Jan Sun Screen Bible- Which Sunscreens Are Best And Why?
Like most beauty products sunscreens come in all shapes and sizes, textures, smells and effectiveness. So lets talk about which sunscreens are best, why, and who are they suited to. This list will help you wade through the crap and tell you which sunscreens are GREAT!
WHO- Kids and Family
These are my pick of the top sunscreens for kids and family.
Ella Bache Great 50+ Sportsbloc Active $39 is a sensational long lasting sunscreen that will suit the entire family and last no matter how much you swim, surf and play in the water! A little thicker in texture but a worthy sacrifice to make when it lasts so well.
Neutrogena Beach Defence Water + Sun Barrier 50+$13.59 at Priceline. This one smells amazing! The kids love it. Lightweight and oil free with great long lasting protection. 4 hours water resistant. BUY HERE
Neutrogena Wet Skin Kids 30+ Spray is $11.99 at Priceline. This is without a doubt my favorite sunscreen to use on my kids. It’s so lightweight you can barely feel it and application is easier to apply than anything else I’ve tried. Kids can be difficult to apply sunscreen to properly but this one goes on like a dream in an ultra fine mist! 4 hours water resistant. Buy HERE
WHO- Women Wearing Make-up
We all know it can feel gross wearing sunscreen with make-up. And no, most of the time the sunscreen already in your make-up is not enough if you’re outside. So here are the best options to be fully protected but feel grease free!
Clinique City Block Sheer 25+ $36 is a beautiful lightweight sunscreen that combines perfectly with any make-up. It’s oil free, mattifying and actually helps to absorb and excess sweat and oil from the skin. Can be used on any skin type even sensitive skins. Buy HERE
Aspect Envirostat 15+- I have to say this is my favourite one for wearing with make-up. It comes in at $66 and I think it’s worth every penny! Lightweight and such a nice texture you put it on and forget you’re wearing it. Blends perfectly with make-up and suitable for all skin types. Buy HERE
Dermalogica Sheer Tint Moisturiser 20 + costs $62 is a broad spectrum lightweight sunscreen that provides a long lasting sheen of colour to the skin. It’s a perfect primer for before foundation application and if you just wear it on its own you get a subtle, light diffusing wash of colour. The light diffusing quality makes the skin look radiant and covers blemishes and imperfections.
Ultraceuticals Sun Active 50+ $45 is an all-round crowd pleaser. I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like this one. It offers extreme protection and is more comfortable to wear than any other 50+ I’ve ever tried. It contains anti-oxidants which means it works to repair your skin at the same time as protecting it from UV rays. 4 hours water resistant.
Neutrogena Wet Skin 30+ $11.99 at Priceline Yay! They have one for adults… So lightweight you can’t feel it and by far the easiest and quickest to apply. It sprays on as a mist which means you’re protected by an ultra fine coat of sunscreen which is still 4 hours water resistant. I love this one because I’m lazy and it’s just too easy! Buy HERE
WHO- Athletes, Runners etc (anyone exercising out of water)
This one is a must for regular outdoor exercisers! Sunsense Clear Gel is THE most lightweight a sunscreen can get. It’s a clear gel that dries in an instant and it feels literally DRY- Immediately after application it disappears and seems undetectable! Which if you’re planning on sweating is exactly what you want. It’s not very water resistant so not a great one for swimming but its sweat proof, and it feels as if you have clean, dry skin. It’s a great one for men because it’s very easy to spread, even on hairy legs and arms. As far as sunscreen goes for sporty people this one cannot be beaten!
