28 Nov Style Stalker File: Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez is a constant fixture in celebrity and gossip headlines due to her high-profile love life, but her ever-changing hair and makeup looks garner an equal amount of attention.

The ex-Disney star has been providing #hairgoals for years and her latest chop and change is no different. My Instagram feed was one constant stream of bleached blonde bob when Selena showed up at the American Music Awards with a dramatically different look to her previously brunette locks.

But it’s not the only hair change that Selena’s made that contributes to her beauty evolution. From sleek Hollywood waves to Brigitte Bardot inspired bangs, caramel highlights and now bleach blonde; it seems that Selena really can pull off any hairstyle and she tends to be a step ahead of trends.

The best thing about her hair routine though is that it isn’t impossible to replicate at home. She admits to being blessed with thick hair that makes it easy to keep it looking full and healthy and of course she has a hairstylist for events and whilst on tour to tend to her perfectly textured ends. But it’s her simple rule of only washing every three days of so, as opposed to every night, that she shares as her secret. Interestingly, she has also said before that she skips conditioner and sticks to shampooing her scalp only.

As for Selena’s beauty routine, she frequently works with master makeup artist to the stars, Hung Van Ngo, who happens to be a master of colour. On numerous occasions Selena has opted for a coloured eye shadow, most notably at last years’ Met Gala. Van Ngo also tends to steer Selena toward luminous skin and thick, bold lashes and as the resident makeup artist for Marc Jacobs beauty, products from the brand are regular features in Selena’s beauty looks including Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer in French Tickler he used in Selena’s video for ‘Fetish’ and Le Marc Liquid Lip Crème in Slow Burn that she wore for the AMA’s.

Selena is no stranger to serious health concerns and it’s this she says contributes to her focus on leading a healthy lifestyle and staying fit and healthy whilst on tour. She travels with her trainer Amy Rosoff Davis and places an equal amount of focus on keeping her mind healthy and building a positive self-image as she does staying physically strong. Rosoff Davis shared that it’s important to start by building stamina, you have to listen to your body and enjoying yourself is paramount in sticking to your training. Selena does a mix of exercises that includes everything from Pilates, hiking, dance cardio, circuit training, spin classes and yoga.
