Practical Packing- The Beauty Experts Guide to Packing

It’s that time of year where we start packing for our summer holiday. It all seems exciting at first then comes the stress of what to pack and how am I going to fit all these clothes in? Because as much as we love feeling ready for any dress code, it’s not exactly fun lugging around an over packed bag either. Cutting down on what makes it inside your suitcase has everything to do with staying calm and stress free. Ask yourself some questions: What’s the weather going to be like? Will there be many nights out on the town? These answers should help shape what your going to pack, along with employing a level of self-restraint.

Write a list: Don’t underestimate the power of making a list. Write down the basic essentials for what you will need on your holiday. Here are some key things: Underwear, bras, socks, hairbrush, shampoo, conditioner etc. Then continue your list with what clothes you’ll take, shoes and so on. This will help you not to go overboard when choosing the contents of your wardrobe.

Tip: When choosing clothes lay pieces on the bed, this will help with giving you ideas of what you will be wearing on your holiday.

Be practical: Try and be reasonable with yourself when packing. There is always that little voice in your head trying to convince you that you need six pairs of shoes for a three-day trip.

The packing technique: A very trustworthy technique is rolling your clothes instead of folding them. So much space is wasted from funny little gaps in suitcases. Also it will minimize wrinkles and creases and you don’t have to worry about the quality of your hotel iron. It will also free up more space for your other traveling necessities.

What to pack: Because it’s summer your suitcase should naturally be filled with lighter things. Shoes: Pack at least three pairs. You will want a good pair walking shoes for exploring your destination or exercising, a pair of sandals or thongs and a nice pair of heels for the evenings. Dresses: Choose dresses that can be worn day and night, accessorizing can do wonders for a simple dress. It’s all about recycling a perfectly good outfit. Swim wear: You want to take at least two to three pairs of swimmers as you will be probably in and out of the pool a lot as well as the beach. Pack only one light dress to wear over your swimmers; you are only wearing it to and from the beach.

Beauty: Buying travel sized products is going to help a lot when packing, it will take up less space in your toiletry bag adding extra room for other beauty products. When packing your make up and beauty products you want to carry the basics. Avoid taking products that are made of glass and try packing ones that are made from plastic, this is going to help avoid any breakages or spillages. Pack your favorite foundation and ensure it carry’s an SPF to prevent unwanted sunburn for your face. You want to take a basic pink blush, waterproof mascara, a nice bronzer to enhance your tanned complexion, and two of your favorite lipsticks. Other beauty products you want to be sure to pack are a nourishing body moisturizer to condition your skin from a long day in the sea and sun.

Tip:  Buy some small plastic travel bottles, they are inexpensive and small and you fill them with your shampoo and conditioner and body lotions which saves you taking large heavy bottles of products with you- Genius! And buy a 7 day plastic vitamin box to carry your jewellery and accessories in, this keeps them tidy and stops them getting lost or tangled!
