Get Your Make-Up On Trend and Up To Date!!! How To Re-invent Your Look.

Have you been wearing the same make-up style for years? Finding it hard to re-invent your look?

It seems many women struggle to keep their make-up look up to date and end up wearing the same look day in, day out for years- if not forever.

Make-up trends do change, and yes they have significantly changed from the mid 2000’s until now. It can be hard to keep up with current trends and know exactly how to interpret those trends and implement them into your make-up regimen. That’s where I come in! Here are my top tips to get your make-up up to date and a little more on trend.

Loose The Shimmer And Mattify: Sadly for all you shimmer lovers its time to limit the shimmer and go for a more matte looking make-up. This doesn’t mean that your foundation should be matte, quiet the opposite… Foundations still look best nice and dewey and radiant, but as for all the other make-up products opt for a low sheen or matte product. Loose the shimmer lip gloss’ and opt for a creamy, matte lipstick. Loose the shimmer eyeshadows and opt for a matte or ‘radiant’ eyeshadow (radiant is a subtle glow but not any actual shimmer particles). Keep the same principle with blush, loose the shimmer an opt for a radiant or matte colour. We used to assume that matte products were more drying on the skin and lips than glossy, shimmery products but these days there are SO many fabulous matte products with a rich, creamy, non-drying consistency.

BROWS, BROWS, BROWS!: If you plucked away during the 90’s and early 2000’s I have bad news for you! Thick, bushy natural looking brows are the very ideal of whats hot in the make-up world. If you struggle to grow back your brows to their full potential and they’re patchy ( welcome to my world…) I suggest buying a brow product to thicken up and fill in your brows, there are so many fantastic brow products available now which will easily give you results like the below. I find you get the most natural result from brow powders and waxes, or ‘mascara like’ brush on brow products.

The Make-up ‘Without Make-up’ Look?!: Sounds strange but this is very real girls! And I have to say I love this look! I pretty much wear this look everyday, it looks effortless and when you add just a touch of bright lippy you are transformed into all dressed up and ready for a night out. A host of stars including Charlize Theron, Kylie Jenner, Keira Knightly, Angelina Jolie among many others wear and love this look. Basically the look involves a nice natural flawless base, groomed full eyebrows, luminous cheeks with a soft hint of colour, loads of mascara, with or without a sleek line of liquid eyeline on the top eyelid, and a matte natural lip colour. Minimal eyeshadow, if any just a neutral matte mid brown colour used to contour the socket line and under the eye, but no obvious colour at all. The essence of this look is not to have any obvious make-up on…. No coloured eyeshadows, no bright blush…. just natural looking products to enhance your natural features. The only thing that is allowed with this look is matte lipstick, be it bright or dark it will look GREAT either way! During the day if you don’t want a bright lip colour, find a nice matte nude lipstick or my favourite trick is just using a natural lip liner alone.

The stars loving the ‘made up without make-up’ look… Angelina Jolie, Camilla Belle, Emma Stone, Blake Lively, Olivia Palermo, Charlize Theron, Emma Watson.

Lashes, Brows, Mascara (and lots of it!), a subtle glow on the cheeks, a thin liquid eyeline and a bright lip and you are red carpet ready!
