23 Apr Long Wear Lipstick- The Verdict!
I love bright lipstick! And yet I would say 95 % of bright lip colours drive me mad, having to constantly re-apply to maintain a perfectly even colour. After all there is nothing worse than faded, cracked remnants of red lipstick…. Eww!
I had always shied away from long last lipsticks, mainly because when I had tried them years ago they seemed to create a lacquer like feel to my lips that REALLY dried them out. However, due to the abundance of varieties I see on the market today I decided to do some road testing and explore the world of long wear lipsticks, surely there is one that will last throughout the day and be comfortable to wear?
Turns out there are two!
Most Comfortable to Wear
Maybelline Super Stay 24 Colour $21.95 – I love these! These colours have a coloured balm on one end and a clear conditioning balm on the other. You first apply the gloss like colour, after a few seconds when it is dry ( it will feel quite dry and tight) you then apply the lip conditioner which leaves your lips feeling moist , plump and soft. They are by far the most comfortable to wear because of the conditioning balm. The colour will last without a hint of fading for at least 5 hours, and the conditioning balm can be re-applied as much as you want to keep you lips feeling smooth. The colour doesn’t come off on anything! My favourite colour picks are- Perpetual Plum, Continuos Coral, and Keep Up The Flame.
Best Colour Range
Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede $25.95 – These ones go on like a lipstick and have a suede like finish. The colour range is amazing. Beautiful brights and pastels which are on trend and fashionable , I have been wearing ‘Silhouette 001’ every day. They do get a little dry during the day so I apply a clear lip balm every now and then to keep them feeling moist. Saying that, the colour doesn’t budge and will last perfectly for anywhere from 4-6 hrs. These colours are my favourites- ‘Silhouette’, ‘It Girl’, and ‘Finale’.
