19 Oct Foundations with Benefits; The Best SPF Formulas
If you were to ask me what my favourite beauty product was, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second before screaming at you that it’s sunscreen. Or anything with SPF for that matter. Foundation, moisturiser, serum; trust me, products with SPF are literally your holy grail beauty product.
I haven’t always been a fan or avid user of sunscreen and have in fact had more than a handful of really (really, really) bad sunburns. But as I age and the hours I spend researching makeup and skincare each week ultimately make me wiser, I’ve come to worship SPF. A lot of people know about the obvious benefits of using sunscreen but because it’s more of a preventative measure, it doesn’t get the same kind of celebration as other more instantly impactful products. But you know what they say; “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” – Benjamin Franklin on something completely unrelated to beauty.
You should invest in a good quality sunscreen that’s been developed specifically for your face. These kinds of sunscreens don’t clog your pores, don’t leave a white case and don’t leave a greasy residue. But for those days when you’re in a rush or ultimately feeling a little lazy (because we all have those) using a foundation with SPF is the way to go.
Before I dive into some great foundations with SPF, let me make sure I’ve fully convinced you to be as obsessed with them as I am. Using SPF prevents wrinkles, freckles, sun spots and discolouration, and do I even need to mention unsightly sunburn and deathly skin cancer? Convinced? Good.
There’s a perfectly good reason this product is consistently the number one seller at Sephora. It’s amazing. Whilst it’s technically not a foundation, the coverage is as good as and it has a really nice finish; not too dewy, not too matte. And with it being SPF 50+, you can’t go wrong.
If you’re looking for something with a velvety matte finish, this is it. It’s a medium coverage foundation that builds really nicely and looks natural and comfortable on the skin. It’s an oil free formulation, so it’s great for oily and combination skin types and although it’s only SPF 15+ it’s an easy way to protect your skin without having to put too many layers onto your face.
For those days when you only need enough coverage to freshen your complexion, the Bobbi Brown BB cream should be your go to product. The coverage is exactly what you would expect from a BB cream; light, dewy and very hydrating on the skin. It’s offered in 6 different shades as well which is impressive as far as BB creams go.
If you prefer a truly matte and high coverage finish, MAC’s iconic foundation is for you. It’s their number one selling product and comes in a huge array of shade options. The best thing is, they’re shades have varying undertones so you get a really true colour match. It’s an oil-controlling formula so you get the benefits of SPF without the stereotypical greasy look sunscreen is known for.
