17 Apr And then I discovered Shiseido….

Vintage Shiseido Image

If you want a cosmetic label with history I don’t think you could get one with a more fascinating history than Shiseido. I remember learning about french make-up pioneer Serge Lutens at make-up college and his extensive history with Shiseido. Athough I’ve possessed this knowledge of Shiseido’s past for over 10 years I had never really tried products from the brand. Why? I can’t really say, but what I can say is that finally I’ve had the chance to try and road test them over the past few weeks and I have discovered some real gems!

First let me give you a little bit of history… During the 60’s Serge Lutens was a true make-up prioneer, working with the worlds best fashion photographers. He was known for is creative talent, and his make-up images gained a huge amount of attention by being so modern and unique. Make-up images like these  (pictured) had simply not been seen before. In the 1980’s he was appointed as creative director of Shiseido, this became the role he is most well known for. During his time with Shiseido he won multiple awards for his stunning images in advertising campaigns and packaging he designed for the brand.

Today the brand is still widely known for its luxury skincare, make-up and fragrance. I’ve been using the Shiseido Bio Performance Super Exfoliating discs  ($110 for 8 discs) which are little discs a bit bigger than a cotton pad which you dampen and use on the face and neck. One side is textured and one side is smooth, the discs contain a serum that when you use it in a circular motion it helps to buff away dead skin cells. I was a bit of a skeptic, i didnt think something which feels so smooth on the skin could really give such a good exfoliation. My skin looks smoother, skin tone more even and I can visibly see the dirt removed from my pores when I use them, these are great! They’re great at removing eye make-up too. I would HIGHLY recommend these for all skin types, I’ve even got my husband using them! I use them once a week.

Shiseido Bio Performance Super Revitalizing Cream ($145) is luxurious and rich. I ‘ve been using it at night and I love its rich creamy texture and the super hydration it gives the skin. It contains super bio-yeast extract and raspberry extract, which help to reinforce elastic fibres in the skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improve the overall texture of the skin. My skin has been feeling smooth, hydrated and more radiant, and I just love the rich consistency to give my skin a boost during the night.

Shiseido is available at David Jones, Myer and selected pharmacies.
