18 Mar 515 chemicals! Yuk!! Clean up your cosmetics!
This month I am focusing on natural beauty products, this means that everything I am using is chemical free and made from 100% natural ingredients. I was astounded when I learned that the average amount of chemicals we apply to our skin daily is over 500!! YUK!!
According to a UK survey of more than 2000 women, the average woman sprays, rubs and paints 515 chemicals on her body as part of her beauty routine. And yet, only 1 in 10 of those surveyed shopped for chemical-free cosmetics.
The skin is often the first place you will see the signs of the body holding too many toxins, common signs are breakouts, rashes, and irritation.
Detoxing is a way to improve the skin’s condition, as it gets rid of the toxins from within the body. These toxins include artificial colours, flavours, chemical residue and fat soluble vitamins. Skin problems, such as acne, can be a result of toxic overload, and detoxing will not only improve the skin’s appearance but will also clean out the liver.
The first step to cleaning up your cosmetics is paying attention to what you are buying. You can significantly reduce the number of toxins you are applying by buying natural, chemical free and organic hair, bath, body and face products.
Parabens are also a scary preservative ingredient that is closely linked with breast cancer. When I was first made aware of parabens in cosmetics I started checking and it turns out they are in nearly everything! So be aware of what you are buying. With no legal definition for what constitutes ‘natural’ it can be difficult to know which products are truly natural and which claim to be but only use minimal natural substances.
After some careful research I discovered some products which are not only gorgeous and effective but also 100% natural and chemical free.
