20 Sep 5-MINUTE SPRING MAKEUP ROUTINE
Spring is here and we couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s time to peel off those winter layers and head outdoors to soak up some much needed sunshine (whilst wearing SPF of course!).
Your spring makeup routine should be three things: quick, easy and simple. No one wants to stay indoors applying a cake face when you could be outside enjoying the glorious weather.
This 5-minute spring makeup routine will have you out the door and looking polished in record time. You’ll need 5-6 products, depending on personal preference, and clean moisturised skin to begin.
So go ahead, say YES to spring, and a hard NO to time-consuming makeup routines that make you late for morning acai bowls and sunset Frosé.
Step 1: A Multi-Tasking Base
High-performance multi-taskers are your best friend when it comes to cutting corners in your routine. You need a base with enough coverage to double as a concealer where you need it and a high SPF factor to protect from premature ageing.
For this step, you can’t really go past IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+. This full coverage CC cream can replace your primer, foundation, concealer and sunscreen in 1 simple product. Simply apply with fingers or a brush, then dab extra product under your eyes as concealer.
Optional: If you have oily skin use a translucent finishing powder to set your base so that it lasts all day. Only apply powder after you’ve used all your cream or liquid products, otherwise you’ll have trouble blending them in. Try NYX Studio Finishing Powder.
Step 2: Brows, because duh…
No matter how minimal, no makeup look is complete without giving your brows some attention. These days your brow routine in itself can take 5 extra minutes. For a simple approach, choose one hard-working product and call it a day. We opt for a tinted brow gel with microfibers to bulk up natural brows and make them look fuller. Try Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel.
Step 3: Choose One Colour for Lips and Cheeks
This product will be your new handbag hero. Choose a multi-tasking lip and cheek colour that you can easily apply with your fingers, whenever wherever. A creamy lip and cheek colour looks subtle and blends into your skin seamlessly. Perfect for days when you want to get out the door pronto. Try RMS BEAUTY Lip2Cheek.
Step 4: Lashings of Lashes
Eyelash curlers are great, but they call for extra time. The trick to getting long lashes without a curler is to layer your mascara. Start with a volumising mascara, like REVLON Dramatic Definition Mascara first, then apply a second coat of a defining mascara, like REVLON Volume Length Magnified Mascara, whilst the first coat is still wet. If you still want more, wait till you’ve finished applying your makeup and apply one more coat of defining mascara after the previous two coats have dried.
Step 5: Speedy Strobing
There’s no time for contouring, but strobing is a must! Spring looks are all about looking dewy and fresh. A liquid highlighter is long lasting and can be used over powder as long as the product is pressed onto skin with your fingers. Use on cheek bones, down the centre of your face, and on the brow bone. Try Benefit Cosmetics Sunbeam, which gives you a natural-looking, sunkissed glow.
And you’re set! Spring into spring, and look good doing it.
