07 Jan 10 Looks You’ll Want To Try In 2015
This year saw the birth of many different trends that are set to take off in the New Year. From New York to Paris models walked the runways with colorfully woven waist length braids, untouched air-dried waves and slicked back wet hair. Undoubtedly the very essence of all of the hottest hair trends is texture, texture, texture!! This seasons best makeup looks took on a similar sense with minimal make-up, moisturiser and little else, except perhaps a little playful touch of colour, a pop of glitter on the eye, a slightly damaged half winged liner or electric bold lips. Will you be daring enough to try them?
1: Supernatural skin:
How to: This look is super easy to achieve with little or no makeup at all and was seen on many runways. To create this look apply a hydrating moisturizer to skin to give the skin that dewy glow. To add an extra bit of sheen to the skin apply a cream illuminator to the cheekbones.
2: Windblown braids:
How to: Backstage at Mara Hoffman the secret to getting perfectly messy hair texture was lots and lots dry shampoo and thickening spray. The hair was then loosely pulled from the braid to give it that undone windblown look.
3: Sleek ponytails and thick black liner:
How To: Hairstylist Orlando Pita created this look for Oscar de la Renta. His tip for achieving high shine without the hair looking greasy was using hairspray instead of hair gel. If you apply the hairspray before and during the blow-dry it will create even a more sleek hold. For the graphic liner layer gel and liquid liner to create that opaque look then slightly draw out a fine wing.
4: Bombshell hair and smoky eyes:
How to: This look is definitely inspired by the bombshell herself “Bridget Bardot”. This look is all about the big hair and sultry makeup. Hairstylist Orlando Pita created this look for the Dianne Von Furstenburg show. To create this look you want to go heavy on the volumizer then set the hair in rollers or just use a curling wand and brush out the curls to get that bedhead look. For the make up you want to line the eyes using a kohl pencil and blend with a mix of dark brown eye shadows across the lid for that perfect slept in smoky look.
5: Long lashes and graphic liner:
How to: This look was created by makeup artist Grace Lee for the Nanette Lepore show. She applied falsies to the top and bottom lashes along with lots of lengthening mascara for a 60’s inspired look. The eye was then lined with white eyeliner winged from the inner and outer corners of the eye.
6: Bold brows and Cocoa eyes:
How to: This look is bohemian and natural and very easy to recreate. Make up artist Val Garland started off by brushing up the eyebrows then filling them in with a powered pencil to define. She then applied a cream warm chocolate shadow to the lids and blended across the lids with a brush.
7: Glamorous Ponytails:
How to: The sleek wavy ponytails at Jason Wu were a modern take on the old Hollywood style worn by many iconic actresses. You want to run a volumizing mouse through damp hair then blow dry and part in the middle. To give the back of the hair volume tease lightly then gather into a low ponytail. Then take wide sections of the pony tail and curl, brushing out slightly to create soft waves.
8: Bold lips and matching nails:
How to: Fill in the entire lip with a lip liner in your desired colour then go over the top with a highly pigmented matte lipstick. You want the lip line to be perfect so try applying your lipstick with a lip brush.
9: Pastel Hair:
How to: Pastel hair extensions were the look that was seen on the Badgley Mischka runway with loose soft waves running through the ends. The look is soft and dreamy and very easy to achieve without having to colour your hair. You can purchase extensions that already have a colour through the hair or an affordable way is to buy hair chalk and apply to the desired area of the hair.
10: Glittery eyes:
How to: Glittery eyes have definitely been seen more than once on the runway. To create a glittery eye you want to choose a sparkly pressed eye shadow, or glitter cream- this is easiest to apply to the lid of the eye as you can use your finger or a flat brush. This look is very on trend for 2015 and very rock ‘n’ roll chic.
